Why an office dog will have a ‘pawsitive’ effect on your day at work…

For the past four years, our very talented Creative Director, Chris has brought his adorable Greyhound Archie to the studio every day; and we definitely aren’t complaining! Archie is an extremely valued member of the Big Blue Dog team. He’s friendly, loyal, loves his food (and everyone else’s). He loves attention and even does a funny dance when you scratch his favourite spot! If it were up to us, we’d make it mandatory for every business to have an in-house dog. However, as hard as it may or may not be to believe, not everybody thinks this way. That’s why we’re presenting you with three very valid reasons that getting an office dog will benefit you, and everyone else around you at work…

1. They give an excellent first impression.

An office dog is a great way of showing potential clients how caring you are – which is key. If we’re taking time during our busy working day (and believe me it can be busy), to care for our furry friend, just imagine the time and care we’ll be putting in to what we do for our clients! Not to mention the fact that there’s always a wagging tail and an excited face ready to greet you at the other end of the door. Okay they can’t make a good cup of tea or coffee, but we sure can!

2. It’s healthy for everyone involved.

Dogs need exercise, and so do we. Taking the office dog for their daily walk, or even just out for a rest break is not only giving you both the exercise you need, it’s also enabling your brain to function much better which is probably for the best if your job role requires you to be creative and original. But anyway, less about us… It’s also beneficial to your pooch when it comes to developing confidence, and interacting with humans. If you were told how adorable you were every time a colleague walked by, you’d probably have quite a lot of confidence too! But don’t worry – Archie is still the down to earth, friendly boy we all know and love.

3. Dogs actually relieve stress – and they make the best companions.

Studies have shown that petting a dog increases the level of stress reducing-hormone oxytocin and also decreases production of the stress-hormone cortisol. Some places even have a registered therapy dog ready to take away all your worries! Bringing your dog to work also instantly removes any worries you may have about leaving your dog at home. You can get to work with the peace of mind of knowing that he or she is peacefully napping, or playing happily. All you need to do is look at Archie and he instantly makes you smile. Who doesn’t want to be approached on a daily basis by a sweet doggy face hoping for some attention?… Or a biscuit.
